ABDIEL FUENTES
Discipleship Pastor
Abdiel is the Discipleship Pastor and provides oversight of Group Life Ministry, and the Men’s and Women’s Ministry programs. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly, MO) through the partnership with New Day.
Abdiel graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with emphasis on American Political Thought, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with emphasis on Hispanic Studies and an academic minor in Philosophy with emphasis on Moral and Ethical Thought. He also received a Master of Divinity in Theology from Cincinnati Christian University.
Born in Mexico to missionaries, Ernesto and Abigail Fuentes, Abdiel immigrated to the United States as a child. Retiring in 2016, he enlisted in the US Army and eventually commissioned as a Chaplain where he served three combat tours and was awarded a Bronze Star and a Combat Action Badge among other numerous awards.
Abdiel is married to Mayerling, and they have three children. Eddie, their oldest son currently serves as the NextGen Worship Director at New Day. He enjoys family time, especially if it involves offroad Jeeping, boating, target shooting, or watching movies.
